STOP NOT BLOGGING – Tumblr.com

I know I know there isn’t enough time to blog right. Think again and check out Tumblr! As I deal with agents around the country one question I ask everyday is how many of you are blogging? Okay one out of 10. How many of you know what a blog is and understand the reason you should be blogging? Okay, not even the guy who is blogging, so let’s talk about it. Then an hour later everyone is excited to start and see the value, but where do they turn? I use Wordpress, but I don’t think it is the right place to start if you are new to blogging. It is a bit tech savvy and can stall the creative process with a tedious learning curve and endless widgets and plug ins to seep through. Then there is ActiveRain, which is the largest real estate blogging community available and is a great place to pick up ideas from your peers. ActiveRain is much easier to get down than Wordpress, but I do sometimes feel like even though I have an outside blog, it is really only being read by my colleagues, not by the members of my actual community I live and work in(I know that’s not the case just saying it feels that way). Again, I love both of these platforms and encourage you to check them both out to see which one feels right to you.

That being said, after a lot of research and as someone that feels like he really gets his consumers, which is you guys, I am now recommending Tumblr for any agent who is NOT BLOGGING.

Tumblr has designed a user experience that an iPod would be proud of. They make it dead simple to post any type of content whether it be pictures, video, audio or text. They also have an awesome feature where you can reblog others great posts you find in Tumblr or even share any content from the entire web with one button ease. iPhone, Blackberry, Email and text are also easy ways to post new content to Tumblr and there is even a toll free number you can call and leave audio that then becomes a post on your site!

As consumers are using the web more and more to consume content it is more important than ever that you create some as well. Tumblr has made blogging accessible to the masses much in the way that Facebook simplified social networking. No matter how tech savvy or non techie you may be I promise that you will be able to publish with style through Tumblr’s easy to use interface, awesome free add ons like mobile updating and simple theme selection process. Bottom line: STOP NOT BLOGGING and start using Tumblr!

  1. This looks great!  As someone who trains agents in technology in my office and around my community, I’m always looking for great EASY tools for the less tech savvy agents among us.  This looks like a tool that even my most technology challenged agents would be able to grasp!  Thanks tech savvy agent for bringing this to my attention.
