iPad for Realtors – Part 1 Apps – It will be how they find YOU
Part 1 iPad optimized apps for Real Estate Search. Do you even need apps anymore?
Over the next few weeks we will be disecting the iPad from a real estate perspective. It is always smart to look at both sides of the coin not just “is it worth it for me”? How are people searching? What are the best apps and sites? Is my contact info there as well? Zillow and ZipRealty were first to the iPad with apps optimized for real estate search. If you are a Realtor that has the device(or not) it is important to know what technologies consumers are using to find real estate and thus you! Enjoy.

Chris, great info as always -very cool applications! I have seen the Redfin app for the iPhone, wonder if they are considering an iPad application? Thanks from “Hotlanta~Tom
Thank you for the demo!I’m still wondering if I want the ipad — thoughts so far?
Hey Krisstina,
Wait for 3G but you HAVE TO get it! You will thank me later I promise. I have already grown fonder of the iPad than my iPhone for what it’s worth. Definitely will find yourself using it a lot now and really more in the future as the apps begin to roll out.
Hello, Chris. Thanks for this. One important difference between an app and Safari is the way that pinch, zoom, and scroll work. When you use an app like Zillow’s, pinching, zooming, and scrolling are really moving you thought the actual map and its different levels of zoom. However, if you access a map-based site through Safari on the iPad, the same gestures only move you around the surface of the page, and you lose the most engaging aspect of the iPad interface. A little bit of time using the Zillow app can really make all other ways of searching for property seem obsolete. These other vendors will have to get on the ball and put their tools in app form if they want to stay in the game.Andysantacruzbuyers.com
this is great to see a website looking at the ipad and realestate, and especially how the ipad seems to be giving nearly full access to websitesdo you know if the ipad version of safari can fully access the topproducer8i website, and allow you to fully use the email function within 8i?this would be so good if it worksi am on the verge of ordering an ipad, and will probably switch from my faithful old palm treo 650 to an iphone when the new iphone 4g comes out looking forward to hearing from you on this
Thanks, per usual, for all of the info! You are a great resource. Just bought a 16gb, 3g yesterday and putting it through the paces. Looking for a good app for writing contracts, with not much luck. Want to be able to upload the contract pages, type in fields and sign right on the iPAD. iannotate only lets you make notes on a pdf, not type fields, and Zosh looks like it has some email issues. I use zipforms and will be trying the app for it. Let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks once again
DocuSign
Hi I wanted to see if anyone has used Docusign on the ipad & to see how it works for them. Also how do you print from the ipad when you are out on the road.
Hi Chris, Great information as usual. I am really looking forward to all the apps you recommend us. I wish there were more apps developed for us in Canada.
This app is great and I love using int. Another great app I found as a realtor is Property Register for iPad. It is only $10 and it is really really good for OFI Data collection! You can set up custom properties, and collect client data on the go and easily export it.
Check it out if you can.
If you are looking for an iPad app for writing contracts, check-out Sign-N-Send. You can easily annotate and sign contracts from your email app right on your iPad.
At $1.99, it is definitely a much cheaper option than DocuSign’s $20/month with a 1-year contract.
Looks like I spoke too soon. Though Sign-N-Send is a great app, PDF Expert looks pretty awesome for $10.
Allows you to fill out and sign PDF forms with a very tight integration with DropBox which is excellent.
Please recommend the best open house app. I am using Open House Manager but find it a bit rudimentary. I would like to find an open house app that works with Top Producer 8i. I heard there was one coming.
Open House Pro is pretty good and might work with TP soon.
Sandra – Property Register (as peter mentioned) is much much better than Open house Manager.
