Nexus One by Google – Important to Real Estate?
So the current buzz in the tech world is really leaning towards 2 new products. The Google Nexus One is promising to be a worthy competitor to the dominant iPhone and the Apple tablet is a device that could change how we look at laptops and the need for a hard drive. We shall start with the Nexus One based on a Facebook Fan page poll that we did recently where the Nexus One beat out the Apple tablet by one vote! Tablet review to come…
After watching the video below we immediately were impressed with the work flow between functions. As a busy real estate agent you need so many different functions throughout the day including calls, text, email, web, contact list, calendar, etc…One of the BEST things about the iPhone is that you can get in and out of what you need in a flash(as opposed to the never ending Blackberry wait time). The ability to be able to snap a picture or video of a home(5 mega-pixel camera), instantly send that pic or video through Social Media portals like Facebook and have it in front of thousands of people all in under 10 seconds is pretty amazing. Problem for Google is, all of that is already possible with an iPhone and they have a HUGE head start on apps including a number of amazing real estate specific apps so why even consider the Nexus One?
Big selling point for me is that with a product designed by Google and as someone who already uses Google products everyday for search, email, analytics, ad words, RSS feeds, images, videos, etc…there should be no better device to manage and navigate these services than on a device designed by them!
The other unique and really nice selling point is that it will be built on an open platform so that developers can go wild with apps the way they have via Apple and also you will be able to choose a carrier for the service(T-Mobile will start, Verizon within 3 months, others will follow). As anyone with a pulse knows the #1 complaint with an iPhone is not the iPhone itself, but the coverage or lack there of via AT&T’s 3G limitations(there’s a map for that).
Check out the clip below, it is the best one on the web we could find and already has over a million views. Leave a comment as to whether you will consider this phone for your busy life as a Realtor.
