Personal Landing Page Best Practices
I asked Per Schmitz to write another guest post for Tech Savvy Agent to continue to enlighten us of best practices for personal landing pages. The given tips can also be adapted to any personal website you already use or plan to publish. DooID isn’t the only option out there, but it’s the one I use and like (check out my page here and connect with me personally). Now I just need to get started in making my changes given the info Per gives below. Good stuff here!
In one of our previous posts we showed you how the proper use of a Personal Landing Page can boost your business (surely worth reading if you haven’t done so yet
Emotional engagement, enhanced accessibility and a strong support of the personal brand are some of the key arguments, showing why every realtor should have his own Personal Landing Page.
The web based tool DooID.me just released it’s brand new version DooID 4.0, allowing realtors to easily build an effective and professional Landing Page in minutes.
1. Make a short, personal video intro
There’s no need to dispose of Steven Spielberg’s directing skills to set up an effective video introduction, even a webcam movie can do a great job!
Just get creative, be yourself and try to keep things simple and short.
A video bio sets yourself apart and helps to create an emotional link to your audience. Have a look at Sam Eligwe’s personal website, who uses a quick video introduction to break the ice and strengthen his personal brand.
It might even be worth investing a few dollars contracting a local video professional, taking into consideration that a nice video bio might help gaining people’s confidence on the social web, and thus closing more deals in the long term.
2. Offer a big vCard-download button
Making your way into a potential client’s (digital) address book can be a decisive detail. If you’re in someone’s address book, he or she will hardly forget about you – it’s as simple as that.
This is why your website should display a big (yep, big !) button to invite each and every visitor to directly click it and instantly download your vCard (the vCard standard allows people to import all your contact data into their address book or email program with one click).
An eye-catching vCard button will signficantly enhance your accessibiliy, and accessibility is directly related to more business opportunities.
A personal domain name helps to unleash the full power of your Landing Page. There’s many reasons why:
1.) SEO - A personal domain name (e.g. yourname.me or yourname.com) will help your search engine positioning in case someone “googles” your name.
2.) Professionalism – Having your own domain name looks way more professional than using “anyservice.com/yourname” or other complicated domain constructions.
3.) Personal Branding – Following the professional appearance, a personal domain name is another important step towards building a significant personal brand identity.
4.) Accessibility – Your personal domain will help people remember where to find you on the web. Again: Accessibility is directly related to more business opportunities.
Allow visitors to share important content they can find on your Personal Website. Be it on Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin or Google+, everything people share from your site will increase your exposure and might attract potential clients. There’s a high probability that your audience’s social media contacts fit into your target group as well.
How can I achieve an effective Personal Landing Page without hiring a web designer?
All mentioned tips are integrated into the new DooID release, feel free to give it a try – it’s free and easy! Find DooID 4.0 here: http://dooid.me

Excellent tips. Reading this has made me realize my own landing page is woefully out of date and needs a major overhaul. Finding the time to get all this done, on the other hand, is the real challenge.
This was so AWESOME and easy to use!!! With all of the great info from tech savvy from the past few days, I believe I have definitely set my self apart from the pack in my market place!! I’ll have to keep you updated on successes! Thank you all for all that you do!
Best regards,
Ryan
Great to hear Ryan!
Like the idea of a personal landing page. Had never heard of it until now. I am not really tech savy….trying to find my way around to the best ways to get my name out there. (I am a Realtor)
Question – Do you use the personal landing page with your website or separate with link to your website?
I have just set up my free company provided website with a domain name I chose. The template on the website is standard to all agents. Any ideas other than landing page to set myself apart and utilize my free website?
Also, would you use your personal landing page link in a QR code to put on business cards and advertising?
Thanks for any input on my questions!
I am finding so much info…..just don’t know best way to utilize it.
Finding it a little overwhelming.
Thanks again to anyone with ideas to help!!!
Love it, implementing changes now…
Is it normal for the traffic to your company website to drop substantially after using a landing page to direct people to first? I was usually in 1st and 2nd place week after week for web traffic through my company site and after 10 days of starting this landing page, my company web stats show that I dropped to 35 within the company… Don’t get me wrong, we have over 200 agents, but used to being way up there! Thanks!

I really like your third point, there is no other best brand that you can have aside from your name itself. Aside from the searchability, it also give a sense of of responsibility of the owner over its web content.
