Tech Savvy Product Review – Jing

Have you ever wished you could mark up a photo or pdf and send it to your friend or colleague? There are plenty of programs that will let you do that, but none as cheap (free) or easy as Jing. . If you can see it on your monitor, you can capture it, mark it up, and save it all in a matter of a minute. It sits on your desktop in an out of the way spot you determine and comes to action immediately.
I use this for capturing web pages and screen shots so I can show people where to click or draw attention to a particular area of the window. It can also be used to show features in a photo you’d like to highlight. But really the most amazing feature of Jing is the ability to capture video. Think quick how to videos. I just did a quick one about what I love most about HootSuite to give you an idea of what can be done in under 2 minutes. http://screencast.com/t/HhNCIUIaF. All you do is pull up the website, draw a frame around it and start recording whatever you do on the screen. When you are done, save it. You can save it to your desktop or to www.screencast.com. They give you 2 gigs of storage with your free account.
Totally amazing and extremely useful. I haven’t run out of ways to use this wonder.
