Tech Savvy Talk Episode #4 – Blogging, SEO and Analytics
This weeks radio show Tech Savvy Talk episode #4 was all about Blogging, SEO and Analytics. We had an awesome show and had 2 special guests call in. Dale Chumbley of 365 Things to Do in Vancover WA fame shared his perspective and successes with his Clark County Real Estate Guide WordPress site. Suzanne Roy of VA Work and Tech Savvy Agent had some great tips about blogging on specific events in your area and when you should post.
We also had a segment called Blogs We Love and featured the following sites as some of our absolute favorites. We also highly recommend that you subscribe to these blogs as a way to always pick up fresh ideas for your site:
Greg Grospitch and I also discussed:
Where to blog and why? Wordpress.org, WordPress.com, ActiveRain, Tumblr, Blogger…The list goes on we chose the best!
Themes
Mistakes we have made to learn from. Self hosted, pay for a theme, too much about keywords…
Tracking your success using Google Analytics. Why blog if you aren’t tracking if it works?
What to blog about and why? How can a post on funeral homes lead to a listing?
Thanks to everyone who tuned in live and interacted in the chat room. We will keep the episodes coming!

wow! What an honored to be mentioned along with the Giants in our industry! thank you so much. SEO for us has been huge as well and being an analytics junkie. We constantly review our analytics, see what people are searching for that brings them to our site and try to stay ahead of them. We track and tweak constantly to make sure we are providing what our readers are wanting and expecting to read. Thanks again for including us in your list!

Very nice show – I have just started radio blogging myself and I learned so much from listening. Chris is definitely a master and I have been blessed from having him comment on one of our posts in the past.
I am very happy for his success and I will continue to pass along the word as often as I can.
It is funny that this show came at the time it did – I am working on my own install of WordPress via Kinetic Knowledge – LOL – You know what they say about Great Minds…
Thanks for your show and Be Well Chris!!!
Great show guys! One observation that I hope supports the hub and spokes analogy, and lessens folks concern for dup’ing their content in different places like AR or FB: [for more detail on the subject, see: http://kineticknowledge.com/blog/best-blogging-practices/consequences-for-duplicate-content/ - When [Google] filters do identify the intent to manipulate rankings or to deceive searchers, the appropriate adjustments in the ranking [for that content] are made *BUT they readily admit they’d rather rely on their filters than on making manual rank adjustments.*
Ultimately, this if you push your content to different places, they don’t want to penalize you UNLESS there was some intent to manipulate rankings. It means that the algorithm’s filters have the ability to identify [and they would rather just decide] what site is the originator of the content and index it’s keywords and key phrases accordingly, ignoring the balance of duplicate pages in places liek AR. Now if you can believe and/ or feel safe with this than you’ll understand it’s actually good to push your content to as many places for as many audiences as is possible.
Sounds like a great idea and out of box thinking. Aziz
@Chris Frerecks – I have wondered the same thing in regards to dup content. My understanding is that it does not necessarily result in a penalty as much as it does a failure to produce a positive result.
